Google has been anticipating this update for years and now the time is finally here! Google has officially announced the use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal that will be rolled out from April 21st of this year. This is expected to have a major impact on Google’s mobile search results and will see a significant drop in search engine rankings for websites that are not mobile-friendly. This was strongly hinted at back in November when Google launched mobile-friendly labels in their search results and started to warn users through Webmaster Tools that their website is not optimised for mobile.
If you are achieving great results from organic traffic you don’t want to see your rankings suddenly drop out at the end of April because your website has not been optimised for mobile.
