Tour of Britain finale

Wow. What an exciting weekend in the Guildford area with the final stage of the 2012 Tour of Britain ending on the cobbles of Guildford High Street and passing within metres of our Godalming offices!

With quite a few road racing fans in the office we've been comparing experiences of the event as seen from various locations (mostly pub related..) and I think we were as enthralled as much by the high speed and incredibly efficient rolling road closure by the Police as we were by the race itself as it blasted past at full pace.

It was especially great to see as it was Mark Cavendish's final race in the World Champions jersey (the rainbow one) and the first time in many years that the tour has been won by a Brit (no not Wiggo, another one who is now off to join him Team Sky). Just a shame that the man who has made sideburns fashionable was off sick with a stomach bug but still an excellent bit of free fun on the doorstep and a great end to a summer of sport in GB.
