Environmental Policy

Minimising environmental impact is now the concern of every business, large and small.

At RAS our Environmental Management System includes a programme for continuous improvement and provides a framework that helps us to manage our environmental responsibilities, so we become more efficient in our business operations. In short, it helps us reduce waste, increase productivity and conform to any relevant environmental legislation.

Mission & Objectives

Our mission is to provide a high quality service whilst operating within an environmental management system. We continually seek to identify areas in which we can improve or modify our environmental performance and quality standards, such as the responsible use of paper and packaging.

Whenever possible, we actively promote the use of recycled papers, and use print partners whose environmental standards match our own – particularly in the use of chemical free processing, the use of vegetable based inks and recycled papers (or paper from renewable sources).

Sustainability – Targets and Achievements

Target:

Increase the extent of our reuse and recycling activities

Results:

We prevented the scrapping of old equipment by disposing of unwanted computers and printers etc. more usefully to other users. Computer monitors were converted into TV sets for use in third-world countries.

We have increased the use of electronic communication at the expense of paper communications.

We use scrap paper for in house note taking. The ordering of office paper and other office materials is being monitored.

We re-use packaging materials whenever practical.

Target:

Increase environmental awareness amongst our business contacts

Results:

We have increased awareness amongst our clients of the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody and have upgraded our website to incorporate a link to the FSC website (see below).

We have encouraged the use of electronic marketing strategies, and online business tools, where these are appropriate and effective, thus reducing the environmental impact of printed paper and delivery via traditional mailing techniques.
